Fair Warning at Christmas time!

It is inevitable, every year at this time of year the kids get the question, "What are you going to ask Santa to bring you for Christmas?" or "You better behave because Santa is watching you!"

If you are inclined to ask my kids something involving Santa, just be prepared for the answer.

Our family has made a choice not to involve Santa in our celebration.  Rather, we center our holiday on the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  We want our kids to understand the true meaning behind Christmas which is a Savior who humbled himself to be born in the form of a man, live a sinless life, and die on the cross for the forgiveness of MY sin.
"Do not be afraid.  I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord."
Luke 2:10-11
So, we have chosen as a family to remain focused on the One who saves.  That is the best Christmas gift. Ever.

So, my kids will tell you that we have chosen not to believe in Santa. We are focused on our Savior.

  1. We've taken the approach that Santa is not real, and it's just a story. Growing up my dad owned a toy store, and so I knew EXACTLY where the toys came from:-)

Don't forget that Saint Nick was a historical figure though.

  2. We say that same thing! We are not anti-Santa. But, we don't want him to be the focus of Christmas.

It's good to know that ours in not the only house Santa doesn't visit :) Hope you guys are well!

  3. We don't involve santa in our house as well for the exact same reasons you have mentioned. I didn't make the decision to implement this in our household officially till last year. and it's amazing.. my kids had already latched onto santa claus by then. santa claus (st. nick) is known as God's helper around here. Luke 2.. one of my most favorite chapters.
